Tom Smith recently took over the running of the Gin House Hotel in Greenock.

The now family-run business has 9 employees.

However, when Tom took over the running of the hotel, there was very little documentation in place for staff which could confuse the employee’s rights, the processes and the policies that must be followed.

The Situation

We took Tom’s instructions and drafted a comprehensive employment contract for him to distribute to employees, setting out clearly what the employee and employer can expect from employment.

There were also no clear or formal processes in place from the previous employer. We have produced a comprehensive staff handbook that is easy to navigate to address this issue to ensure that all employees have a clear understanding of the processes in place and policies that should be followed.

Going forward, The Gin House Hotel will now have uniform processes and policies in place that mean everyone knows where they stand and ensure that any issues that may arise can be dealt with quickly and effectively.
