Full-time employees will have a statutory right to a minimum of 20 days annual leave plus an additional 8 days to allow for bank holidays.
Part-time employees and workers will accrue holidays on a pro-rata basis that relates to the number of hours they work per week.
With a casual worker on a zero hour contract, an average of the hours that have been worked over the previous 12 weeks will need to be calculated to work out their holiday pay.
Self-employed individuals, however, do not have the same statutory right to annual leave.
